Fiction Friday 4/14/17 Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Photo Challenge #160

Hi, welcome to Fiction Friday, where I share some of my writing. This week’s post is a response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Photo Challenge #160.

sketchpad

Her lungs ached from the climb up. She turned, and before her was a stunning sight. She shifted her weight to her right hip and etched this landscape into her memory.

“It was as if I was on top of the world…,” Her mom had described while laying sick in her hospital bed, at the end of the life and wanting to tell her shy sheltered girl her adventures.

Carrie was only 14 when her mom passed away. She bounced around from her father, to his family, to her mother’s family, which she liked being around because it reminded her of her mom. It infused her with happiness and positivity that she just didn’t absorb with her father’s family.

Carrie sat down, tucking her coat under her butt. Reaching into her coat, she pulled out a medium sized drawing  pad and began to sketch what she saw. She used a crazy long pencil that had ruler markings etched onto it to her help her line up her vanishing points and anchor her perspectives.

Time seemed to pass slowly as the sun went down and the sky darkened. Still, Carrie sketched on. After a couple of hours, she stood up and stretched her legs and looked at her pad. Satisfied with what she saw on it, she nodded and with that began the journey down to the bottom.

She flashed to one of the last memories she had with mother…

Carrie sat at an angle at the side of her mother’s bed so that she watch her sketch. She faded in and out of consciousness, sometimes speaking, other times reaching out and patting her twice.

She could hear her mother rustling next to her. She turned and was greeted with her warm green eyes. Carrie smiled. Her mother returned her smile and squeezed her elbow.

“That is just simply stunning baby girl,” her mother had rasped. Carrie shrugged.

“Be proud of your work Carrie, you are constantly learning and growing and evolving. I love you and am proud of you at every stage of your life because you are constantly discovering yourself, scrapping the old you and reemerging tweaked and different in better, positive and beautiful way.”

That was the most Carrie had heard her mother say in one clip in an extremely long time. Her mother held her hand to her chest but stared her straight in the eye to drive her point home. She smiled and leaned down towards her mother, kissing her on either side of her face.

“Thank you mom, I love you too.”

Carrie turned back to her pad and twirled her pencil in her hand, trying to decide where to dive back into. Her mom rubbed her back until she fell back asleep.

She had sketched so effortlessly and beautifully that day. It was still some of the best work she had done by far. Carrie had felt that feeling today sketching, another goal besides actually making it up there.

What a great day. Her mother would be proud.

Clementine anxiously waited for the 5:40 out of the city, wondering if he would be on board. She touched her pocket nervously and looked out of the window. Today would be the day that Clementine would speak to him, and she knew just what topic to broach. Her head turned as the trained approached, palms becoming sweaty. Clementine stepped onto the train, looked around and spotted him. As the train moved she made her way over to where he stood. For a moment she watched, mesmerized as she had often before, as he flipped and turned the switch blade in his hand. With a nervous smile on her face, she tapped on his shoulder. He took out one of his headphones and turned to her, still flipping the blade every which way. Clementine took out her own and showed it to him, shrugging and saying, “Could you show me a thing or two?” With a genuinely surprised smile, he nodded and reached to check out her blade.

Fiction Friday 2/10/17 Tale Weaver #106

Hello, and welcome to Fiction Friday where I share some of my writing. This week’s post is a response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Tale Weaver No. 106. This week they are asking for a tale to be woven where touch is important.

WARNING: FOR MATURE READERS ONLY

1,801 words, 6-8 Minute Read

Chapter 1

His lips left tiny burning trails against my shoulders and neck as he pressed his body against mine, his hands tugging at the towel wrapped around me. I closed my eyes and reveled in his touch. Why was he doing this to me? Time and time again I’d dreamt about him, yet only recently had the dreams turned increasingly sexual.

His arm cupped my butt and he picked me up, carrying me to the bed and laying me down gently, softly, as if I were something valuable and precious to him. He pulled the towel away and threw it to the floor. His lips made a trail down my body while his hands rubbed my thighs. There I lay, bare, naked, completely exposed for his eyes to see and hands to caress.

I rocked my hips back and forth as his lips kissed my inner thigh. As the moan escaped my lips I looked down; his eyes locked on mine, a predatory look in his eyes that caused my whole body to shiver. He smiled and slid up my body, nipping and sucking my flesh as he went. I pulled the sheets and moaned louder. His lips, his hands, his everything set me on fire.

My mind flashed to the first time he’d touched me.We had just been sitting across from each other in the grass, talking and laughing. I had fallen over from laughing so hard and had hurt my hand. He’d reached out, taken it in his and kissed it, igniting a small fire that was now fully stoked and out of control. I wanted to stop him and calm the fire, gain some control back.

But dammit, it just felt too fucking good.

Tresses Thursday 2/9/17

Hi and welcome to another Tresses Thursday, where I share hair updates, hairstyles, and tips.😀  My goal every week is to try a different hairstyle, and this week’s surely is brand new and extremely simple.

First, I washed my hair using  Andalou hair products, then put Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner in. After that I used a thick-toothed comb to distribute it thoroughly
through my hair. Then, I parted my hair from the top of one ear to the other and twisted the bottom section into a bun to be dealt with later. With the hair in the front I parted it into four sections. Each section before getting twisted along my head received about a quarter sized amount of Desert Essence J0joba Oil. The remaining hair from the twists against my head got twisted into a bun.

With the front done, I moved on to the back section. I applied a quarter-sized amount of jJojoba oil to it, combed it through, and then braided the rest.

And there you have it!

Fiction Friday 2/3/17

Hello, and welcome to Fiction Friday where I share some of my writing. This week’s post is a response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Finish off Fridays #7: Shadow 03.02.17, where they provide the picture and the opening sentence and we write an additional 100-150 words to complete the story.

Until she uploaded her day’s photos onto the computer, she never noticed the shadow in each of them.

“What the…” She trailed off, confused. Her photography expeditions she did alone for this particular reason. In each photo she saw the same shadow, behind her off to the side. She  flashed to a memory with her father who had been in a hit and run a few years back and had died in the hospital.

She remembers crying by his side, being angry and sad. Her crying had woken him up and he’d said, “Don’t cry baby girl, I’ll always be with you.”

She felt herself tearing up at the memory. She stood in front of a mirror, took a picture, and uploaded it to her computer. Lo and behold, there was the shadow standing a few feet behind her. Tears fell down her face as she laughed, cherishing the shadow.

Tresses Thursday 1/5/17

Hello all, and welcome to another Tresses Thursday, where I share hair updates, hairstyles, and tips.😀  My goal every week is to try a different hairstyle. This week my mom, our resident artist milamoki, styled my hair.

First, I washed my hair using  Andalou hair products, then put Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner in. After that I used a thick-toothed comb to distribute it thoroughly 20161207_020830.jpgthrough my hair. Tip: Styling wet is hair 1,000% easier than doing it once its dry. Once it dries it expands, becomes poofy and a lot less malleable, like in this photo.

Then, Milamoki parted my hair from the top of my left ear across my head to my right ear. Tip: Twisting the hair you are not working with into a bun is better than just putting it in a pony tail or clipping it to the side because it helps the hair stay wet and not poof up and expand. She twisted the hair below this part in to a bun to be dealt with later.

Milamoki then parted the rest of the hair down the middle and twisted the left side in to a bun. With the hair on the right, she parted it into two sections, then parted those sections down the middle. After that, she took each section in the front and secured it with a black rubber band. From there, she braided the hair until she got to the next set of sections. Milamoki combined the braid with the next section, securing with another black rubber band, added the hair she picked up in that section and continued to braid. Once both sections were rubber banded  and braided, she combined both into one braid, braiding it till about an inch to the end, then securing it with another rubber band. Tip:It’s better to not braid the hair all the way to the end or secure the hair with a rubber band to the very end because it will rip and damage the ends of your hair. With the hair on the left she repeated the steps above. After both sides of hair were braided, she took the hair in the back and did a simple single braid.

Tip: When it is time to take the hair our of this style, it is better to use a cuticle clipper to cut the rubber bands out. I find that scissors are much harder to use and I end up cutting some of the hair in the process. Plus, the cuticle clippers are a lot sharper and precise. The rubber bands snap so quickly and easily!

And header-156421_1280, there you have this weeks Tresses Thursday hairstyle!
