Ch 2

Her arms and legs glided through the water, as if her and it were one. Her fingertips touched the wall and she flipped, turning and heading in the opposite direction. The familiar ache of her lungs relaxed her, allowing her mind to be empty as her body worked. Her head turned for air as her arms circled above her head, ready to butterfly down the lane. It was her favorite stroke because it allowed her to swim like a mermaid, like she belonged in the water, was born to be in it.

After a couple more laps she decided to head to shore. It was about midday, few clouds in the sky, a tender breeze caressing the water. She heard what sounded like a fog horn and looked around, confused. This was a lake.

She chalked it up to being tired and swam a little faster towards shore. She heard the sound again and spun completely around, nothing in sight. Hmm, she wondered just what that noise was. She peered around the lake but saw no source of the sound.

Unexpectedly a wave came at her, and then another, higher and higher. Her limbs flailed, trying to stay above water, but she couldn’t. Quickly the wave overtook her and she went under. Her muscles cramped up as she fought to get to the surface. Anxiety and panic pumped blood through her veins as she kicked, her legs throbbing. It seemed like her fingertips almost touched the surface, but it was more like caressing the underside. Something yanked on her ankle, once, twice quickly before she could even react, and then it started to drag her down. Continue reading Moonrise Ch 2

Ch 1

The rain pelted the window as she slept, comforting and unsettling her. There was an odd love-hate relationship she had developed with water. As a young girl she had constantly swam in the lake nearby, or the swimming pool in the next city over. She played water sports with her brothers on those unbearable scorching summer days. Once, she had nearly drowned when they went to the ocean on vacation when she was sixteen. Her Uncle and most of his family had drowned almost four years ago in a freak accident. Since then she hadn’t been able to tolerate being in something as simple as a bath. But she enjoyed the sound of running water and the rain outside, most of the time when it didn’t make her jittery.

She reached over as her alarm went off, blinking a solid 2:50 A.M. Another restless night with sleep that didn’t help shit. Throwing the covers off, she slowly spread out her limbs, her stretching accompanied by a symphony of cracks. As she laid there a few more seconds she heard the rain pick up its tempo. She rolled her eyes, annoyed that she had to do early morning patrol. The only good thing out of it is that she didn’t have to exercise later. Rolling out of bed, she slid over to her closet, pulling out a running suit and some under things.

Within four minutes she was dressed and downstairs. She slipped half a cheese bagel in to the toaster and pulled out some cream cheese and a knife. While her bagel toasted, she went to the alcove next to the door to put her shoes and rain suit on. A few sets of shoes and rain gear were drying in the alcove, no doubt from the earlier shift.

There were eight three-hour shifts, four people on each. We ran a perimeter non-stop around the property, making sure the walls and the wards weren’t damaged or broken. If anything looked or felt out of the ordinary, we were to signal it in, no matter what. The buzzer ding’d, signaling the bagel was done. Quickly, she slathered some cream cheese on it and finished it in three bites. The knife landed in the sink, napkin in the trash, and she was out the door before the clock hit 2:59 A.M.

The Experience

The molecule that make us all. Everything around you is also a part of you. We all know the saying, “Say No to Drugs”. There is a drug system that approves drugs and a system that disapproves drugs. As we can see in today’s society the approved drug is far more dangerous than the disapproved drug. I wonder why? During the 60s or the “Hippie Era” there was a drug everyone was taking known as “psychadelics”. Science has discovered the most profound molecule in psycadelics called dimethyltrypamine or DMT dmtthat is found in every organism of nature including humans. The interesting fact to me is that DMT is also produced in the brain while we are sleep and provides the dream realm. Which ironically is similar to a “trip” you would take during a psychedelic experience, but less powerful of course. Take a look at what its like to experience a trip and the effect is has to not only know we were all connected but to actually see it.
